Terry Ford Dotson is best known for her high energy platform skills. Her gentle humor keeps audiences laughing while they learn handfuls of practical applications. Whether speaking to a corporation or small organizations, she is a storyteller extraordinaire, comfortable with audiences of any size. Her ability to communicate complex ideas simply comes from years of hands-on experience as a manager/leader that has also lived the corporate life. After being homeless with her children for over a year, she appeared in the documentary, “It was a Wonderful Life,’ as a woman interviewed who lived the story of riches to rags. Oprah Winfrey viewed the documentary. As a result, Terry and her children were asked to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show to share their experiences and the hope she displayed in the documentary.
In front of a studio audience of 100 and a television audience of 20 million, Terry spoke on her experiences as a member of the hidden homeless. By the time she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, she was no longer homeless. In fact, two of her children graduated from college that fall. With such an obvious passion for motivating others, coupled with her insightful approach, Terry has commanded the attention of boardrooms, churches and television alike.
Terry speaks from her heart, out of her own personal brokenness, bringing hope to a generation of hurting people. No matter what the topic, she shares with just the right mix of fun and faith, transferring the timeless truth of practical application for the everyday issues of real life. Terry currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Antelope Valley Hope Foundation, Inc., a social service organization serving low income individuals in a suburb of Los Angeles County. She has over 20+ years of non-profit management experience and has dedicated her life to help encourage, uplift and motivate people, who in many cases, have given up or see no hope. She firmly believes no matter whatever obstacles life may throws our way...There is Always Hope!
She also created the “Women with Hope.” A program which features her most requested seminar “FUNdametals of Speaking,” (public speaking), “Step Up – Step Out,” (leadership), “Heart Talk,” (communication,) and “Where Do I Fit?” (career choices). She also speaks on a variety of subjects such as “Hope,” “Faith,” and “Overcoming Obstacles.” Recently she just added to her repertoire the topic of “HIV/AIDS, Putting a Human Face on It.” She also is the author of “When All Seems Lost – Faith Says Yes Lord!” and “Praying with Purpose.”
Terry is a mother of 3 young women. Her oldest has received her Master in Education, her middle child is a Ph.D. candidate and her youngest is a freshman in college. She is also the grandmother of 2 beautiful grandchildren and mother in law to the best son-in-law in the land.
