Starting out as a model, Andy eventually formed and ran her own modeling agency. Meanwhile, she studied acting with Stella Adler (since 1949, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting has been one of the premiere acting schools in New York City.) and others, appearing in stage and televisions productions as well as making commercials. She has written many songs and worked as staff writer for Warner Chappell. Her songs have appeared in the repertoires of several noted country singers and she has also recorded her own albums. Stylistically, Andy draws upon several traditional country themes, including bluegrass, but angled to accommodate contemporary changes that have become a part of new country music. During the 90's Andy taught women in prison, and in 1995 she published the book, She Stays, with Ricky Van Shelton's wife, Bettye. Through these same years and beyond she organized movements developing understanding on topics such as breast cancer. Her 2002 album, Sea of Pink, deals with this subject.
Sea of Pink celebrates those who survived breast cancer
and honors those who didn't.
"Country artist Andy Landis mixes the same blend
of acoustic folk, pop and bluegrass stylings that has worked
so effectively for artists like Trisha Yearwood."
~ Thom Granger, All Music Guide
She Stays (This song is not about staying in an abusive relationship. This song is about working on one's relationships and standing on prayer when it seems the love has died. It's about keeping the commitment even when it would be easy not to. This song was written with respect for all those women who have stayed.)
No (The number of rapes has risen to epidemic proportions. As believers, we must be ready to help heal and to be healed from the devastating effects of this crime. I pray that God will use what happened to me to help others.)
