Barbara T. Marshall
Energetic - Dynamic - Compelling - Passionate
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
~Matthew 5:16
Barbara T. Marshall is often compelling and passionate with messages that reach right to the heart. As President and Founder of Thriving in Christ Ministries®, Barbara serves serving as an international Christian speaker since 1993 and has a passion for helping others grow from merely surviving to thriving in Christ.
A Dutch native, Barbara came to America at the tender age of 19. No stranger to hardship and heartache, she survived a traumatic divorce with three young children, struggles with rejection and insecurity, a 17-year eating disorder, and the trials challenges of parenthood. Though she accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age of 14, she did not really grasp and embrace His amazing love for her. Years later—broken, alone and desperate for joy—she finally surrendered to the love and grace of Jesus and began claiming His promises for her life. That is when she finally understood the power of thriving in Christ, rather than just surviving. God changed her heart and that of her former husband and ultimately restored their family. They remarried and today enjoy a beautiful, Christ-centered marriage—praising God for their second chance at life together.
“Barbie” and her husband Ken live on Lover’s Lane (really!) and enjoy their adult children and grandsons.

Topics Include
RANSOMED... Loving yourself from the inside out
Very few women can look into a mirror and see the incredible beauty staring back. In Ransomed, Barbara draws upon the lives of five amazing women from the Bible—Rahab, Naomi, Hannah, Deborah, and Martha—that beautifully illustrate God’s ability to ransom hearts, revive tired and wounded spirits and reveal the incredible loveliness He has placed within each of us. She also shares her own personal struggles with eating disorders, a broken marriage, troubled teens, and financial hardship and explores how they have shaped her character. (One to five messages)
THRIVE & SHINE! Discovering and using your spiritual gifts effectively
Through this in-depth study, Barbara’s objective is for each Christian to discover, interpret and employ their Spiritual Gifts effectively and truly be salt and light to the world. This spiritual insight will open new opportunities for members to serve in the Body of Christ, as well as encourage others to discover their Gifts, allowing God to shine forth from their lives and ultimately from the Church in which they serve. (One to four messages)
THE REAL DEAL...Friends you can count on for life!
Friends laugh with us, cry with us, love us, support us, comfort us, confront us and challenge us. Life is richer and sweeter when experienced with friends. God has a plan for your friendships because He knows your friends determine the quality and direction of your life. In this four-part seminar series, Barbara teaches you how to develop meaningful and lasting friendships with others by first knowing and being friends with God and yourself. You will learn the dynamics of authentic friendship by learning to celebrate the differences build on the essentials and lean on the friend who never fails. (A four-part seminar series)
THE SCRAPBOOK OF YOUR LIFE
Imagine your life being captured in pictures for all the world to see. Scary thought? Let’s face it...not every moment is a “Kodak moment”. We all have moments and painful memories we’d rather just forget and certainly not celebrate. But maybe we should be grateful for those “non-Kodak moments” as they draw us closer to God and shape us into a beautiful panoramic image. Sharing her personal battle with a poor body image, long-term eating disorder, divorce and remarriage (to the same man), Barbara’s journey of pain is proof of God’s faithfulness in equipping us to become everything He wants us to be.
