Debbie Hannah Skinner
The Bible Teacher with a Paintbrush
Speaker - Artist -
Dramatist - Musician
The fact that Debbie Hannah Skinner is an artist is not the only thing that distinguishes her from other speakers. You see, she is a “heartist,” someone who communicates from her heart to yours through a unique blend of words, art, drama and music. Debbie’s passion is to point women to Jesus Christ by skillfully weaving her words and water-media paintings with wisdom from Scripture.
By sharing insights from her years as a professional educator and seminary trained Bible teacher, through Mirror Ministries Debbie has touched the hearts of women across the United States and overseas. By drawing upon her own family’s varied life experiences - ranging from downsizing to dyslexia - she encourages and inspires women to find hope in Christ through all the ups and downs of life.
Debbie brings her audiences a powerful message that is firmly grounded in Scripture and presented with the soft Southern sensitivity and sense of humor she acquired while growing up in Alabama. Sometimes Debbie paints as she speaks, other times she uses her paintings as visual aids. Either way, by using the same creativity required to create a masterpiece painting, she custom designs her presentations to meet the unique needs of your group.
“Art to Heart” Retreat and Seminar Topics
As a “Bible teacher with a paintbrush,” Debbie teaches as transparently as her watercolors and always tries to incorporate art into her “art to heart” talks. All of Debbie’s presentations are firmly grounded in Scripture, yet are creatively woven with humor and real life examples that help her audiences see how relevant the Bible is to everyday life.
Debbie’s topics are constantly growing, based upon her latest insights from God’s Word and the issues she is dealing with in life. She is always open to creating new talks to fit your theme verses, but some of the more highly requested women’s issues Debbie speaks on include…

Cultivating Contentment
Based on the in-depth Bible study of the same name authored by Debbie, this retreat focuses on looking to Jesus Christ as the ultimate source of our contentment. Born out of her own struggle with discontent, Debbie leads participants to examine their level of contentment in session one entitled How Does Your Garden Grow? Next, she helps women to recognize the signs and symptoms of discontent in Weeding the Garden then concludes with Watering the Garden, offering practical, Biblically based ideas for how to refresh and renew a sense of contentment.
The Spiritual S.P.A. - Finding Rest for Your Soul
This three session seminar helps participants find the peace and rest Jesus promised amidst the hectic world in which we live. Using her creative and memorable “S.P.A.” principle, Debbie begins by Setting the Foundation for peace by establishing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Next, she builds on this foundation with Practicing the Still Life, a look at the spiritual disciplines that allow us to experience a daily, fulfilling peace. Finally, Debbie challenges participants to maintain a sense of peace by Anticipating the Abstracts in life and to strengthen their faith through the practice of praise in all circumstances.
Setting Sail on a Voyage of Faith
In this fast-paced, three session study covering the entire book of Jonah, participants will find a comforting and powerful central message: God is sovereign and in control of all things. Based on Debbie’s Bible study of the same name, participants set sail with Debbie on an adventure in faithful dependence on the providence of God through studying: A Reluctant Servant, A Restored People, and A Redeeming God. Jonah is so much more than a fish story!
A Masterpiece in the Making
Debbie creates a painting over the course of this three session seminar, beginning with The Making of a Masterpiece where she parallels the way the Lord “grows us up” in Himself with the way one grows as an artist. Next, she shares her testimony and helps participants see how God has been creating a masterpiece in their lives through A Masterpiece Makeover. Debbie concludes with Reflecting God’s Divine Design, helping participants recognize the daily choices necessary to live an effective Christian life.
Keeping Your Eyes on the Focal Point of Christ
Do you ever feel like your attention is distracted from Jesus? Most busy women do! This seminar focuses on helping participants identify what is distracting them from Christ and how to redirect attention toward Him through Debbie’s “Gaze and Praise” principle. The three sessions are entitled: The Danger of Distractions, An Upward Gaze, and A Life of Praise.
